Chalkly – Terms of Service & Privacy Policy

1. Terms of Service
Welcome to Chalkly, a collaborative whiteboard app fully integrated with Microsoft Teams. By using Chalkly, you agree to the following terms. Please read them carefully.
1.1 Ownership & License
Chalkly is a proprietary software product developed and owned by Auscomp Pty Ltd. All rights, title, and interest in Chalkly—including its design, branding, functionality, and code—remain the exclusive property of Auscomp or its licensors, except for open-source components noted below.
Use of Chalkly is granted under a limited, non-transferable, non-exclusive license for use within authorised Microsoft Teams environments. You may not:
- Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble any part of the app
- Copy, resell, sublicense, or commercially exploit the service without prior written permission
- Use the app in violation of applicable laws
1.2 Eligibility & Trial Access
Chalkly is offered to users with eligible Microsoft 365 Teams work or school accounts. It is not available for personal or family Microsoft accounts.
A 14-day free trial is available per Microsoft Teams tenant. After the trial ends, continued use requires a valid license subscription (see pricing).
You are responsible for managing access within your tenant and ensuring only authorised users use Chalkly.
1.3 User Content
All content you create with Chalkly (whiteboard drawings, notes, etc.) is your own. Chalkly does not store your whiteboards on its servers by default. Files are saved:
- Locally in your browser
- In Microsoft Teams if exported or saved to SharePoint/OneDrive
- Temporarily in-memory during collaboration sessions
We do not claim ownership of your content.
1.4 Availability & Liability
Chalkly is provided “as is” and we do not guarantee:
- Continuous availability
- Compatibility with all Microsoft Teams environments or devices
- Freedom from bugs or interruptions
To the extent permitted by law, Auscomp is not liable for any loss, damage, or disruption related to the use of Chalkly.
2. Privacy Policy
We respect your privacy and limit data collection to what is strictly necessary for the app to function.
2.1 What We Collect
When you use Chalkly, we may collect:
- Your Microsoft Teams tenant ID, team/channel IDs, and user ID
- Basic session metadata (e.g., time of use, app version)
- Trial/license status linked to your tenant ID
We do not collect or store:
- Your whiteboard content (unless exported and shared with us)
- Any messages, files, or Teams conversations
2.2 Cookies & Analytics
Chalkly uses essential cookies only—for session state and security. We do not use third-party tracking cookies or behavioral advertising.
Basic analytics (e.g. feature usage, session frequency) may be collected anonymously to improve performance and reliability.
2.3 Microsoft Permissions
Chalkly uses Microsoft Teams APIs to provide core functionality. You must grant the app the required permissions to operate. These permissions are only used within your Teams environment.
2.4 Your Rights
You can request deletion of your licensing or usage data by contacting us at contact-us@auscomp.com. Data will only be removed once it’s no longer required for licensing verification.
3. Open Source Attribution
Chalkly makes use of open-source components licensed under the MIT License, including Excalidraw.
