How Chalkly Protects Your Drawings

When you draw on Chalkly, your work stays completely private — even from us.

That’s because Chalkly uses end-to-end encryption (E2EE). Everything you draw is encrypted in your browser before it ever touches our servers. This means we never see your content — not even a trace.

Here’s how it works:

  • When you share a Chalkly board, your drawing is encrypted with a unique key.
  • This key is stored in the # part of the link — which browsers never send to the server.
  • We simply store the encrypted version of your drawing. Without the key, it’s just digital gibberish.
  • Only someone with the full link (including the key) can open and view the drawing.

Even if someone were to gain access to our servers, they couldn’t decrypt your drawings. Only you and those you share the link with have the power to see what’s inside.

Your creativity is yours alone — and Chalkly keeps it that way.

How to Install – Chalkly AI Whiteboard (Free 14 Day Trial).

⚠️ Requirements

To use Chalkly, you’ll need a Microsoft 365 work, school, or enterprise account with sideloading enabled in MS Teams.

Personal, Family, and Consumer accounts are not supported. Government tenants may require admin approval.
Sideloading is safe and reversible – you can remove the app at any time, with no impact on your Teams environment

Step 1: Go to “Apps” in MS Teams

  • Open Microsoft Teams (desktop or web)
  • In the sidebar, click Apps
  • At the bottom click “Manage your apps”
  • Then click “Upload an app“

Step 2: “Upload /Sideload Chalkly”

  • In the dialog window “Upload an app“
  • Select Upload a custom app.
  • Or choose Upload an app to your organization’s app catalog if you are an admin.

Step 3: Select the app file

  • In the file dialog, choose the downloaded
    chalkly-ms-teams-whiteboard.zip.
  • Click Open.
  • A confirmation modal will appear with app details.
  • Click Add to install the app into Teams.

Step 4: Add Chalkly Whiteboard to a Tab

  • Navigate to the desired channel.
  • Click the + (plus) icon at the top to add a new tab.
  • Select Chalkly Whiteboard from the list.
  • Follow any setup prompts to finalize.
